Still on the fence; its getting uncomfortable up here 8/7/10

Jeff and Diane were at the screening of Pinchbeck's "2012" movie I attended with my husband at OFS tonight,. It was great to see them there. I am still vacillating about how to build our eco-parachute. I asked my husband, "Knowing what we know, and given how smart we are, and relatively skilled, why can't we figure out the intelligent thing to do now? Once you GET IT, what's the response?" It's been a year of distractions and delays. I got my novel finished but ignored my kids and let the…See More

Practical people

Beatrix Potter was a children's author who wrote sentimental stories and painted cute water colors of rabbits wearing waistcoats. She was also a practical person, whom eventually owned and managed 14 farms in the Lake District of England, totaling 4000 acres at her death when she donated them to the National Trust. I admire anyone who does tangible good, even from silly reasons. June 28 was her birthday. Beatrix Potter saw how working crofts were being turned into weekend cottages, how the…See More

Being Alone or being Together in money and debt

My current project is deciding whether to commit to suburbia, with its mortgage and commute, or try to take my family on an independent gypsy journey. My husband who physically is a big guy, says he cannot live in an RV. But I foresee economic collapse coming to a head sooner before Peak Oil or Climate Chaos hits.

Interestingly, I am told, hyperinflation (such as often accompanies economic collapse) benefits those of us carrying a load of Debt. After all, if $10,000 buys only a loaf of… Continue

Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment

The link between Mind and Social / Environmental-Issues.

The fast-paced, consumerist lifestyle of Industrial Society is causing exponential rise in psychological problems besides destroying the environment. All issues are interlinked. Our Minds cannot be peaceful when attention-spans are down to nanoseconds, microseconds and milliseconds. Our Minds cannot be peaceful if we destroy Nature.

Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment.

Response to Climate Change Impact Response Meeting

I attended the Public Meeting on the State's Climate Change Impacts Response Strategy last night (November 30, 2009) and wanted to post some of my reactions and thoughts (not a summary of the meeting itself). So here they are!
